    SF to Berlin (Air Berlin)

    In previous years we used United miles to travel.  This time around we used American AAdvantage miles to fly business international from San Francisco to Berlin, Germany. Although American Airlines devalued their entire AAdvantage program for 2016, we were traveling early enough (February) to avoid the devalued award chart changes.  Only flights booked on March 22, 2016 and after were affected.  Whew.     Living in a 16′ Trailer for Three Months

    Well here you go.  Thanks to www.tripline.net, I was able to create a map of our complete route while touring around the U.S. for 3.5 months. We set out during the late summer of 2014 from Northern California and finished at the end of the year back home.  The greater part of the first month was spent in California and the national parks of Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado, where the autumn months are most enjoyable.  In the second month we hurried through the cities of the Midwest, Northeast, and a bit of the South with the goal of escaping the region’s brutal cold.  By the third…

    “…but you’re flying first class, so that’s okay!”

    Signs were plastered along the wait lines and columns at the airport, clearly stating that the weight limit for each carry on item was 7 kg (~15 lb) for Eva Airlines.  Chris and I each had a 50L backpack that weighed about 25 lbs each, along with personal bags of approximately 10 lbs each. “Are you checking in any bags?” asked the agent. “We prefer not to,” Chris replied.     In one week, Chris and I will be in Hanoi, Vietnam! We purchased our flight tickets last Thursday, March 6, applied for our visas on Friday the 7th, and will be picking up our visas tomorrow, March 12. We will be flying first class and I look forward to blogging about the international first class experience next week. =)
